Marathon Watches: A Canadian Tool Watch Company
A few years back, a friend who collects watches and knows the category well told me to look at Marathon. I had not heard of them. I am usually a function-first buyer when it comes to kit, and I had been wearing watches that did the job without making me think much about them. He told me Marathon was a Canadian company building Swiss-made tool watches for allied militaries and search and rescue. That was enough to get my attention.
I ended up buying a 46mm Arctic JDD. I have worn it for years now and it has become my default watch for backcountry trips, the range, and everywhere in between.

Who Marathon is
Marathon Watch Company was founded in 1939 by Morris Wein. Since 1941, Marathon has been manufacturing timing instruments for Allied Forces. Their watches are designed in Canada and hand-assembled in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.
The Search and Rescue (SAR) series was developed to Canadian Government specifications for professional SAR operations and remains standard kit for members of both the Canadian and U.S. militaries. The SAR series is available in 36mm (MSAR), 41mm (GSAR), and 46mm (JSAR, JDD, CSAR) cases, with both automatic and quartz movements.
Why we partnered with them
Marathon and Silvercore serve overlapping communities. Hunters, anglers, search and rescue professionals, range members, people who use a watch as a tool. The partnership is built on a shared customer base, not on Marathon trying to clear inventory or run a seasonal promotion. That is why the Silvercore Club discount on Marathon is real, why it is substantial, and why it does not show up on coupon-aggregator sites.
